Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Virtual incredABLE 5K!
HMEA’s incredABLE 5K has gone virtual, and so have our volunteers! incredABLE Day brings people together for a common cause: to raise vital funds that allow HMEA to continue providing lifespan services and supports to people with developmental disabilities across Massachusetts. Just because we can’t get together in person on May 17th, doesn’t mean we can’t still do something incredABLE through Virtual Volunteerism!
Being a Virtual Volunteer means becoming an HMEA Ambassador, and it doesn’t take much effort to have some really big impacts. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and show your friends and family that you’re on Team HMEA. Share our posts, leave comments, tag your friends, use #incredABLE2020, and participate in our virtual events – and you can do it all in sweatpants! Engaging with us online will let your peers know that the Virtual incredABLE 5K is a cause they should pay attention to, and you’ll broaden the reach and the results of the event. You never know who may see your suggestion or call to action, or the truly incredABLE things that can happen when we reach out to our wider communities! This year, you won’t have to wake up at 5:00 AM to help us set up tables, or serve hotdogs and hamburgers, or help with the cleanup, and we’ll truly miss that! But, as a Virtual Volunteer, your volunteerism now comes from broadcasting your support of HMEA’s Virtual incredABLE 5K to your social networks. Phone calls and emails to your friends and family are also great ways to spread the word about this event!
If you have other ideas for your role as a Virtual Volunteer, please contact Samantha Shepherd, Virtual Volunteer Coordinator, at 508.298.1121 or sshepherd@hmea.org. We’d love to hear your suggestions!
