Giving by mail
Your cash or check donation helps HMEA by making much-needed funds available immediately to assist the organization in providing services. Don’t forget about a matching gift.

Giving by credit card
If you are interested in making your donation to HMEA by credit card please call Linda Conley (508) 298-1107, or click here to make an online donation. We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. Be sure to have the account name, account number and expiration date ready. Don’t forget about a matching gift. See below.

Pledges
A pledge to give to HMEA is a promise of confidence. It shows you want to make it’s mission, yours as well. Your pledge is typically made over a period of time, usually three – five years. If you plan to give regularly, you can make a multi-year pledge to HMEA, which enables HMEA to meet the agency’s immediate needs. Contact dmacpherson@hmea.org to arrange your pledge cycle.

Matching Gifts
An easy way to double or even triple your gift to HMEA! Many employers offer a matching gift program as a benefit to their employees to increase the size of the employee’s donation. See your employer’s Human Resources or Community Donations Department today and then contact the development office at HMEA at dmacpherson@hmea.org, and inform us of your intention. Thank you!

Gifts in Kind
A gift in kind is a generous way to donate an item you elect HMEA to use, or it may be an item you no longer need but may have some value to HMEA. If the gift item or asset you donate is used by HMEA in the programs or residences, you receive the full fair market value as a charitable tax deduction. However if it is not used, you are limited to the cost of the asset as a tax deduction.
Gifts in Kind with a value of $5,000 or more require an appraisal by law. You will receive a receipt and letter from HMEA stating you have received no goods or services in exchange for your gift.

Payroll Deductions
If your employer offers United Way contributions through payroll deduction, you can write in HMEA as your organization of choice.

Securities
Giving appreciated stock, bonds, or mutual funds is an excellent way to give to HMEA and realize significant personal tax advantages while making a significant difference in the lives of the children and adults supported by HMEA.
Certain restrictions and considerations apply. Be sure that the stock you are donating has been held by you for more than 12 months, and is worth more than you paid for it initially. However if the stock price has depreciated since you purchased it, sell the stock on your own, take the tax advantage on the loss and then make your donation to HMEA by check and claim that as a tax write off.

Life Insurance
Do you have a policy that is no longer needed for it's original purpose? You can make HMEA the beneficiary and the owner and you will receive significant tax advantages. For further information on how to accomplish this please contact dmacpherson@hmea.org.

Real Estate
Do you own some real estate that you would like to use to benefit HMEA, receive personal tax advantages, and potentially serve as an income producing asset to you? In some situations, such as the establishment of a Retained Life Estate, you may make a present day gift of your residence or real estate to HMEA, receive current tax benefits, but reserve the right to continue living in your home for life. Pooled Income Funds
In this tax saving strategy, gifts from various donors are co-mingled and invested jointly for growth and variable income based on fund performance. Please contact dmacpherson@hmea.org to make arrangements for this.

Wish List
HMEA has many homes and programs with various needs. We could always use physical fitness equipment, yard games, gardening equipment, kitchen items, TV’s, stereos, VCR/DVD players in good working order, new toiletries, and other items.
